What it does:
- Effluent filters are placed in the outlet of the septic tank for additional filtration of the wastewater. Effluent filters remove solids that could instead be carried out of the tank and potentially clog downstream treatment devices.
- Effluent filters need to be cleaned periodically. It will always get cleaned when the tank gets pumped, but sometimes that is not often enough. The average effluent filter gets cleaned once per year. Occasionally they need to be cleaned more often.
