Septic System Installation & Repair

Steps to Replace a Failing Septic System

  1. The first step in replacing a malfunctioning septic system is to obtain a permit from your township or health department.  In Delaware County the fees vary from township to township.  In Chester County the fee is $800.  https://forms.chesco.org/iFiller/iFiller.jsp?fref=dd72c6e3915c2d4830e09f68d67baf28  Click link to obtain the link to the Chester County record/riders forms.  We can assist you in obtaining this permit.  The permit is good for 3 years.

  2. The next step is to perform what is called a soil evaluation.  A backhoe and operator will dig at least two holes approximately 3' wide, 8' long and 7' deep.  This is required by Pennsylvania to determine at what depth to install the new system.  Sometimes the percolation test fails and additional tests are required.

  3. The third step is to perform a percolation test.  This is also required by the state and tells us how well the ground absorbs water.  This is how we know how large to make the absorption system.

Finally, we take all of this preliminary information and design a system to meet the local and state regulatory agencies requirements.

Our fee schedule is as follows:

Soil evaluation

:

 $    840

Percolation test

:

$  510*

Design

:

 $    640

Total

:

$  1990

*Note:  If it is determined that a drip irrigation system is required the above pricing will increase.

Once the system is designed we will give you a firm price for installation.

A new absorption system will cost $8,000.00 - $35,000.00 depending on the type of system needed, which is determined by the testing.
